Safety First! No one wants any employee's hurt or injured!

Michael Pittman

“Who and Why?” “FIRST!” “No one wants any employee’s Hurt or injured!”

A few guidelines as to who and why all staffing at each facility is responsible for Safety:

• Every day, more than (12) workers die on the job – over 4,500 a year.

• Every Year, more than 4.1 million workers suffer a serious job-related injury or illness.

With these alone it should bring to the first line in every Business Facility the attention that,

“SAFETY MUST BE # 1.”

Many will not even take the time to read this Injury & Illness Concern Prevention acknowledgement. This should be and is a very large concern within your own organization.

For all who shall, and who shall not only acknowledge that, “Safety!” Must be (#1) upon all staffing’s mind at, “ALL!” times.

“Safety!” Starts at the TOP and is transferred downward to every manager, supervisor, lead staff member, before ever reaching the staffing that performs the day-to-day operations. “SAFETY,” is the reflection of management.

"Establishing safety as a value: rather than a priority: tells our employees and our customers that safety is built into our overall culture, not something we do to merely comply with regulations"

“The Proof is in the number’s!”

Note: Taking into mind that the unseen costs to each facility and to each company as a whole is (4 to 5) times whatever the medical and workers compensation costs are per injury/illness.

1. Any wages paid to injured workers for absences not covered by worker’ compensation;

2. The wage costs related to time lost through work stoppage;

3. Administrative time spent by supervisors, managers, safety department workers, following injuries;

4. Employee training and replacement costs;

5. Lost productivity related to new employee learning curves and accommodation of injured employees;

6. Replacement costs of damage material, machinery and property.

Only a truthful and real enhancement, (focus) on prevention will bring these numbers down.

• We all must be totally on board

• At all times

• The Safety Program must come from the TOP Downward

• All staffing must be fully made aware that no management places any work performed before individual safety

Working First Hand with “ALL” Hands, in acknowledging preventive maintenance of observation of hazards – Safety Concerns and Issues:

• Stop running after injuries and start preventing them from ever happening.

• Empowering and Enforcing every area and every staff member to acknowledge:

“SAFETY IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY; AT ALL TIMES!”

• Rewarding good safety activities

“Establishing safety as a value: rather than a priority: tells our employees and our customers that safety is built into our overall culture, not something we do to merely comply with regulations.

Our continued team efforts as, “One Safety Culture Company – Overall!” will be our testimony of each facilities acceptance and involvement within their own business cultures.
